What is ZINC OXIDE?

White powder that forms on the outside of zink when exposed to water and oxygen, it is the active ingredient in sun-block and many breakfast cereals.

Zinc oxide comes from allowing zinc to be exposed to oxygen and water.

Pure zink(metal dug out of the ground and refined) is ground into a powder and exposed to water and air, it is then re ground into a powder.

Zinc Oxide is poisones if it is burned and inhaled, for example when cutting galvanized metal (metal coated with zinc) you have to use a respirator if you are cutting it with a tourch. Otherwize zinc oxide injested supplies much needed zinc, a metal needed by most animal life.
